Hot and dry weather with reduced rainfall forecast for Brunei in coming days

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN  (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Based on the latest numerical weather prediction models, the weather in Brunei is forecast to continue to be generally hot and dry, with reduced rainfall amount and activity for the next upcoming days, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) stated in a release yesterday.

The daily maximum temperature is expected to reach between 33 degrees Celsius (°C) and 37°C.

Brunei Darussalam is in the inter-monsoon period. Normally during this period, the atmospheric condition tends to be more stable with reduced rainfall activities.

Since May 5, Brunei Darussalam has been experiencing excessive hot weather (EHW) conditions at several areas during the day. The daily maximum temperatures recorded in several observation stations around the country reached 35°C or above for three consecutive days.

As of May 6, three areas recorded EHW – Labi, Lakiun and Anggerek Desa. Another five areas recorded unusual hot weather (UHW), including Bandar Seri Begawan, Lumapas, Sinaut, Benutan and Bangar. Members of the public are advised to take necessary precaution and safety measures in light of the hot and dry weather conditions.

The BDMD advised the public to always follow official weather information issued by BDMB through the mobile app Brunei WX, and through WhatsApp and Telegram channels (Brunei Weather).
