Four boys drown while bathing in river in central Myanmar

YANGON: Four boys drowned while bathing in Ayeyarwady River near a motorboat landing in Nyaung-U town of Mandalay region in Myanmar on Wednesday (April 23), the country's fire services department said.

The drowning incident occurred at around 12.10pm local time on Wednesday at the Yone Nyaungbin motorboat landing, the report said.

After receiving a report that four boys had gone missing while bathing near the jetty, rescuers, including local fire service personnel and members of local rescue organisations, launched a search operation, it said.

One of the bodies was recovered at 12.40pm, the second at 1.24pm, and the remaining two at 2.03pm and 2.04pm, the department said. - Xinhua
