Four people dead after residential block collapses in India

NEW DELHI (Bernama-dpa): Four people died and a further 10 are unaccounted for after a multi-storey residential block collapsed near New Delhi on Saturday, reported German news agency (dpa), citing local media.

According to the reports, 14 people were rescued. The block collapsed in Mustafabad in the northeast of Delhi state.

Images published showed a heap of rubble between other residential blocks.

The confined conditions were hampering rescue work, a spokesman for the National Disaster Response Force told the PTI news agency.

The cause of the collapse was unclear. PTI reported on the basis of police information that construction work had recently been done in the building's ground floor.
