Thailand and Myanmar record 12 mild quakes, two in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai


BANGKOK: Twelve mild earthquakes were recorded in Myanmar and northern Thailand on Thursday (April 17), with magnitudes ranging from 1.6 to 3.5, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.

The Earthquake Observation Division of the department stated that two of these earthquakes occurred in Thailand.

The first, with a magnitude of 1.6 and a depth of 2km, occurred at 12:53am in Pong Phrae Subdistrict, Mae Lao District, Chiang Rai Province.

The second, with a magnitude of 1.9 and a depth of 7km, occurred at 5:44am in Saluang Subdistrict, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province.

There have been no reports of property damage or casualties at the time of reporting. - The Nation/ANN
