JAKARTA: (Bernama) Members of the diplomatic corps in Indonesia, Asean representatives, and leaders of influential Islamic organisations such as Nahdlatul Ulama have signed a condolence note in honour of former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who passed away on Monday (April 14).
They signed the condolence note at the Embassy of Malaysia in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (April 16).
Among those present were representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, the United Arab Emirates, Laos, Germany, Guatemala, Hungary, Morocco, Russia, Singapore, and Yemen.
They were received by Ambassador Datuk Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin.
Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to Asean, Datin Sarah Al Bakri Devadason, welcomed permanent representatives and ambassadors to Asean, including those from Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Russia.
Also present was a representative from the influential Islamic organisation, Nahdlatul Ulama.

The Embassy has opened a condolence book for members of the diplomatic corps and the public to sign until Thursday.
Visiting hours are from 10 am to 1 pm, and 2 pm to 4 pm, at the embassy complex located on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said, which was officiated by Tun Abdullah on 9 February 1993.
Tun Abdullah, affectionately known as Pak Lah, passed away at the National Heart Institute on Monday afternoon and was laid to rest with full state funeral rites at the Heroes' Mausoleum, National Mosque, Kuala Lumpur, on Tuesday.
The late Tun Abdullah served as Foreign Minister from March 1991 to January 1999, playing a key role in strengthening Malaysia's relations with Asean.
Meanwhile, Syed Mohamad Hasrin, on behalf of the entire embassy staff and the Malaysian people in Indonesia, expressed condolences to the family of Tun Abdullah.
"My condolences to the family of Tun Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi. May his soul be blessed with divine mercy and placed among the faithful,” he said. - Bernama
