One dead, one missing in sea collision in southern Philippines

MANILA: One person died and another remained missing after a Philippine-flagged tugboat hit a Panamanian-flagged vessel off Sarangani province in southern Philippines on Tuesday (March 25), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

The PCG said on social media that the head-on collision occurred on early Tuesday morning in the waters off Maasim, and that rescuers had found the body of the tugboat's captain.

A search and rescue team continued to locate the last missing crew member, the PCG said.

The PCG said it had conducted an oil spill assessment and yielded a negative result. - Xinhua
