Climate warming reduces oxygen in global lakes, according to study

BEIJING/MANILA (Xinhua): A new study published on Saturday finds that oxygen levels have dropped in lakes worldwide due to lasting climate warming and escalating heatwaves.

Researchers found the declining trend after analyzing the data on dissolved oxygen levels -- the amount of oxygen in the water -- in more than 15,000 lakes across the world over the past 20 years.
