VIENTIANE(Xinhua): The Young Diplomat Forum and the ninth Lancang-Mekong Summit kicked off in Lao capital, Vientiane, on Thursday, offering young diplomats from Mekong member countries the opportunity to exchange views and insights on international relations, diplomatic policies, and regional and global issues.

The event was chaired by Somboun Sihanath, Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department at the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lao News Agency reported on Friday.

The forum also featured participation from representatives of Mekong member countries.

Key discussions included a lecture titled "The Role of Young Diplomats in the Future," led by Yong Chanthalangsy, Representative of Laos to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR).

The event was part of the broader celebrations marking the ninth anniversary of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Framework, which was officially launched on March 23, 2016.
