Brunei attracts more researchers, influencers to promote tourism industry

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A series of well-targeted initiatives, including bringing foreign researchers for biodiversity expeditions and organising familiarisation trips for foreign travel agents and influencers, are being carried out to promote Brunei's ecotourism sector, a minister said on Monday (March 17).

Scientists are conducting explorations of the flora and fauna in the forests of Brunei's interior, located on the island of Borneo, said Abdul Manaf Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, at the legislative council.

The Ministry is also promoting specific tourism products such as birdwatching and wildlife exploration.

The Ministry has formulated several strategies, including tours to agricultural sites that incorporate traditional food sampling and cultural activities.

The Minister mentioned that recently, a delegation of a foreign TV station visited Brunei to showcase the Ramadan experience among Muslims in the country as part of Islamic tourism initiatives.
