Vietnam targets full 5G coverage by 2025

HANOI: Vietnam aims to achieve nationwide 5G coverage spanning urban centers, industrial zones and key transportation hubs by 2025, state-owned Vietnam News Agency reported Friday (March 14).

In the latest directive, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the need to accelerate 5G commercialization and expand high-speed broadband infrastructure as a new drive for economic development, according to the report.

According to the latest data from Vietnamese network operators, the military-run telecom provider Viettel has reached 5.5 million 5G users and is on track to hit 10 million in 2025.

State-owned VNPT, operator of the Vinaphone network, has also activated 5G services across all 63 provinces and cities nationwide. - Xinhua
