AI chats feel ‘emotionally meaningful’, say about 40 per cent of young South Koreans in survey


SEOUL: 38 per cent of teenagers and 42 per cent of people in their 20s surveyed said they can have meaningful emotional exchanges with generative AI, according to Embrain, a local research firm.

Generative AI chat services — seen primarily as study or work tools — may serve as emotional companions and even informal “counsellors” for many young people in South Korea.
