Myanmar attracts US$656mil in 10 months of FY 2024-25


YANGON: Myanmar attracted US$656.15 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first 10 months of the fiscal year 2024-25, according to figures released by the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) on Monday (Feb 24), reported Xinhua.

From April 1, 2024, to Jan 31 this year, the Myanmar Investment Commission approved 52 foreign-invested enterprises, according to the DICA data.

During the period, the oil and gas sector attracted the most FDI with US$357.04 million, followed by the manufacturing sector with US$148.64 million, and the transport and communication sector with US$87.71 million.

Singapore, China and Thailand were the largest investors in Myanmar during the period, the data showed. - Bernama-Xinhua
