BANGKOK, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- The Thai Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has announced that a forest fire that broke out at Laem Krating in Phuket, Southern Thailand, last night has been successfully extinguished, although it has impacted air quality in the country.
DDPM Adviser, Jirayu Huangtrakul, said the fire, which erupted at 8 pm on Thursday, covered an area of approximately 1.6 hectares (10 rai) and the prompt mobilisation of provincial forces ensured the blaze was completely contained by this morning.
