Alcohol labels should warn of cancer risk, says new WHO report

COPENHAGEN (dpa): Alcohol sold in the European Union should carry a warning on the link between alcohol consumption and cancer, the European region of the World Health Organisation (WHO) said in a statement released from its Copenhagen office on Friday.

Recent research showed that "awareness of the link between alcohol and cancer among Europeans needs to be improved and that it could be significantly enhanced by use of a health warning giving information about alcohol as a cause of breast and colon cancer," it said.
