39 kg of ketamine, 18 kg of ice seized in eastern Myanmar


YANGON: Myanmar police have seized 39 kg of ketamine, 18 kg of ice and other drugs in eastern Myanmar's Shan state, the state-run daily The Mirror reported on Friday (Feb 14).

Acting on a tip-off, a joint anti-narcotic task force searched a vehicle in Kengtung township on Feb. 10 and confiscated 39 kg of ketamine and 18 kg of ice (methamphetamine).

On Feb. 12, the authorities seized 7,500 stimulant tablets and 20 grams of heroin in Tangyan township, as well as 20,050 stimulant tablets in Nansang township, the report said.

The suspects were charged under the country's drug laws, and further investigations were underway, it added. - Xinhua
