Lao, Cambodian party leaders pledge to strengthen ties

VIENTIANE: The 15th high-level meeting between the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), held in Vientiane on Feb 7, reviewed cooperation between the two parties and states.

The LPRP delegation was led by the Party’s Secretary General and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, and the CPP delegation was headed by the CPP President and Senate President, Hun Sen.

At the meeting, both sides exchanged updates on their respective Parties and national developments, and discussed global and regional issues of mutual concern.

A key focus was the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreed on at the previous meeting of the two sides.

Both sides expressed deep appreciation for the continuous growth of friendly relations and long-term, comprehensive and stable strategic partnership.

They acknowledged the success of this high-level meeting as a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation between the two parties, states and peoples of Laos and Cambodia.

Thongloun commended the remarkable achievements of the Cambodian people in preserving, building and developing their nation under the capable and visionary leadership of the CPP, with Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the helm.

He noted Cambodia’s significant progress in national development.

Samdech Hun Sen expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and praised the Lao people’s accomplishments under the leadership of the LPRP.

He recognised the success of Laos in implementing the resolutions of the 11th Party Congress and the 9th Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan, which have contributed to national progress.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to work closely together to further strengthen ties between their Parties and States, aiming for greater mutual benefits for their peoples.

They hailed the meeting as a significant milestone in fostering the traditional friendship and the comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership between the two Parties, States and peoples.
