Boat mishap in Brunei: Victim’s body found on second day of operation

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The body of a victim who fell into the Tempinak River in Kampong Melilas early Thursday (Feb 6) morning in a boat mishap was found Friday (Feb 7) afternoon, the second day of the search and rescue operation.

The victim’s body was found around 12.15pm at Kerapakas River in Ulu Belait, two kilometres from the location of the accident, according to the Fire and Rescue Department.

Two senior citizens, had gone fishing in the wee hours, when their boat was met with an accident, causing it to capsize.

Both victims had fallen into the river. One victim saved by the public, did not sustain injuries.

The department set up the Tactical Command Post and utilised boats and drone to monitor from Sukang River to Melilas River.
