Four in family, including three-year-old girl, die in Balanga City blaze

BALANGA CITY, (Philippines): Four persons, one of them a three-year-old girl, died Sunday (Feb 2) morning after being trapped in a burning two-story house in this city.

A report from the local Bureau of Fire Protection identified Zenaida Jose, 70; August Jose, 53, a tricycle driver; Jaimelyn Joy Manalo, 24; and Jaila Adeline Jose, three, as the fatalities in the fire that hit a house in Purok (zone) 1, Barangay Camacho at 4.45am.

The fire started on the first floor of the house.

The victims reportedly struggled to get out of the house with the door padlocked for the night.

Firefighters placed the fire under control at past 5am.
