5.2-magnitude quake hits western Myanmar


YANGON: A 5.2-magnitude earthquake jolted western Myanmar at about 1.53am local time on Friday (Jan 24), the country's Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) reported.

According to the DMH, the epicentre was determined to be 9 miles to the east and southeast of Homalin town in the Sagaing region.

The earthquake, with a depth of 43km, was initially determined to be at 24.83 degrees north latitude and 95.05 degrees east longitude, the DMH said. - Xinhua
