Brunei and Vietnam's growing ties highlighted

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam officially established diplomatic relations in 1992. Since then, bilateral relations between the two countries have been continuously strengthened and developed.

Vietnam Defence Attache Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Huan highlighted this during the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the All People National Defence Festival on Tuesday (Dec 17).

He added, “In the last three decades, the friendship between the two countries has been increasingly strengthened especially cooperation in politics, economics, defence and security, culture, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.”

During the official visit by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to Vietnam in 2019, relations between the two countries was upgraded to the level of comprehensive partnership.

He also added there is an increase of Vietnam businesses looking for opportunities in the sultanate.

Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Minister of Defence Poh Kui Choon attended as the guest of honour. Vietnam Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Tran Anh Vu was also present. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
