Earthquake of magnitude 4.5 hits near Myanmar's Hsenwi Town

YANGON (Eleven Media Group/ANN): A minor earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale struck near Hsenwi township, northern Shan State, in the early hours of Monday (Dec 9), according to a statement from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

The statement indicated that the earthquake occurred at approximately 3:28am on Monday.

The epicenter was located 69 miles northeast of the Thipaw Seismological Station, within Myanmar's territory, about seven miles northeast of Hsenwi Township.

The coordinates of the epicenter were 23.38°N latitude and 98.03°E longitude, with a depth of 10 kilometres. - Eleven Media Group/ANN
