Myanmar's famed Shwedagon Pagoda attracts over 6.64 million visitors in 10 months of this year


YANGON (Xinhua): The Shwedagon Pagoda, also known as the Golden Pagoda in Myanmar, attracted over 6.64 million visitors, from Jan 1 to Oct 31, 2024, U Boe Thin, a member of the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees has announced to the media.

Of these, 69,391 were foreign visitors, with the most coming from China, Thailand and Vietnam, he said.

The pagoda attracted over 3.697 million visitors from January to June, and over 2.946 million visitors from July to October, he added.

The Shwedagon Pagoda is open daily from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time. - Xinhua
