BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) will introduce a new metal composition for the coins in circulation.

The new coin will improve its durability while maintaining the same size, weight and design.

The coins will be made from mono-ply plated steel whereas the current coins are minted from homogenous cupronickel metal, the agency said in a statement on Monday (Nov 4).

As the issuer of Brunei Darussalam currency, the agency prioritises maintaining bank notes and coins that are of the highest quality, durability and security. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
