99 per cent of Vietnam's population to be covered by 5G mobile network by 2030

HANOI, Oct 11 (Bernama-Xinhua): Vietnam's coverage of 5G mobile network is expected to reach 99 per cent of the population by 2030, according to the country's newly-approved digital infrastructure strategy.

The 5G mobile network will also reach all cities, provinces, high-tech zones, research and development centres, industrial parks, stations, ports and international airports by 2025.

Each Vietnamese citizen is expected to have one Internet of Things (IoT) connection by 2025 and the figure is expected to increase to four connections in the next five years, said the strategy.

The adoption of digital signatures among the Vietnamese adult population is targeted to rise from over 50 per cent to over 70 per cent between 2025 and 2030, Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.

The strategy also targets operating at least two new international undersea fiber optic cables, forming artificial intelligence data centers, and developing new data centers that meet international green standards by 2025. - Bernama-Xinhua
