KAOHSIUNG: Taiwan shut down schools and offices for a second day Thursday (Oct 3) as Typhoon Krathon pounded the island before its expected landfall, leaving two dead and more than 100 injured.
Krathon, packing sustained wind speeds of 126km (78 miles) per hour and gusts of up to 162 kph -- was 30km southwest of southern Kaohsiung at 10am (0200 GMT), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
