Fallen branch kills two, injures three in HCM City's downtown park

HCM CITY: A large branch from an old tree in Tao Dan Park in HCM City’s District 1 unexpectedly broke and fell to the ground early Friday (Aug 9) morning, hitting a group of old people doing exercises, killing two and injuring three others.

The deceased victims were N.T.D.L, 70 years old, and T.C.T, 70 years old, both from Co Giang Ward, Ben Thanh District.

The time of the incident was about 6am, no strong wind or rains were observed.

Witnesses living nearby reported that two people died and three others were injured and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment at Saigon General Hospital.

As of 9am the same day, authorities were still at the scene investigating the cause of the incident. - Vietnam News/ANN
