HANOI: North Vietnam prepared for more heavy rain amid flooded streets and landslides that have caused at least three deaths in Hanoi, VnExpress news website reported on Thursday (Aug 1), citing local authorities.
Another seven people died in other northern provinces due to floods and landslides earlier this week, ThanhtraVietNam reported on its website.
The region is at risk of more flooding and landslides with heavy rain forecast for north Vietnam, though it could gradually ease Aug 2 night, according to a National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting report.
A week after tropical storm Prapiroon hit the region, parts of the capital remained under water.
Rising waters damaged dikes surrounding Hanoi, triggering many landslides, VnExpress reported.
Hanoi authorities ordered the evacuation of thousands of residents in some parts of the city, VnExpress reported Monday.
