Laos, WHO join hands to address health-related challenges in the country

VIENTIANE (Xinhua): Laos' Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) will continue to work together to address current and future health issues in Laos.

While Laos is tackling remaining challenges and preparing for health risks in the future such as noncommunicable diseases and climate change, the Lao Ministry of Health is proud to be working side-by-side with the WHO, according to a report from the ministry's Center of Information and Education for Health on Friday.

The WHO is fully committed to supporting Laos in addressing the health issues faced now and in the years to come.

WHO's support has enabled remarkable health progress over the decades, including the successful management of Covid-19, the elimination of lymphatic filariasis and trachoma, the near elimination of malaria, and a nearly 80 percent reduction in maternal mortality since 2000.

The WHO has been working closely with the Lao Ministry of Health and other ministries to tackle various health challenges in the country, according to the report. - Xinhua
