India repatriates 38 Myanmar prisoners detained in Imphal prison

YANGON: A total of 38 Myanmar nationals who have served sentences for various reasons in India and were detained in Imphal prison have been repatriated to Myanmar, sources said.

They were first transported by helicopter from Moreh, Manipur State on June 11 and brought back home through the international border entry and exit gate of Tamu city with the cooperation of Myanmar and India.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Myanmar Embassy in New Delhi had coordinated with relevant organisations in Manipur through the Ministry of External Affairs of India to expedite the process. - Eleven Media Group/ANN
