YANGON (Xinhua): Myanmar's renowned Shwedagon Pagoda attracts over 5,000 foreign visitors each month, U Boe Thin, a member of the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees, told Xinhua on Monday.

Approximately 150 to 200 foreign visitors visit the pagoda daily, with most visitors coming from Thailand and China, he said.

The entrance fee for foreigners is 10 U.S. dollars per visitor, he said.

In 2023, the pagoda welcomed over 78,000 foreign visitors, he added.

Currently, the pagoda is open from 5am to 9pm, and starting from June 21, the hours will be extended from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m., returning to the pre-COVID schedule, U Boe Thin said. - Xinhua
