Only South Korean women's doubles pair could stand tall as China shuttlers sweep four titles at Indonesian Open

JAKARTA (Xinhua): Chinese shuttlers collected four gold medals here on Sunday at the 2024 Indonesia Open badminton championships.

Mixed doubles pair Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin beat fellow Chinese pair Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong 21-11, 21-14 in around 30 minutes.

In the men's doubles, Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang emerged victorious against Malaysia's Man Wei Chong and Kai Wun Tee in a three-set thriller 19-21, 21-16, 21-12.

Meanwhile, Chen Yufei bested South Korea's An Se-young 21-14, 14-21, 21-18 in the women's singles final full of long rallies, which tested the nerves and stamina of both players.

In the men's singles, Shi Yuqi defeated Denmark's Anders Antonsen in the final 21-9, 12-21, 21-14.

However, the China's women's pair failed to make it a clean sweep. South Korea's Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee beat Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan 21-17, 21-13 for the women’s doubles title.

The 2024 Indonesia Open was held at the Istora Senayan stadium in Jakarta, with total prize money for the event amounting to US$1.3 million. - Xinhua
