Brunei health ministry going on a year-long anti-tobacco drive with aims of bringing down smoking numbers among youth

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Health Promotion Centre (HPC) signed a letter of agreement with MixMediaWorx Sdn Bhd for its anti-tobacco mass media campaign at its premises.

The campaign is an initiative of the Ministry of Health (MoH) to disseminating anti-tobacco messages in conjunction with World No Tobacco Day 2024.

Set to run for 12 months, the health authority hopes the marketing materials will raise awareness onthe dangers of tobacco, specifically electronic cigarette, counteracting the tobacco industry’s tactic of targeting youth; and advocating smoking cessation services provided by the MoH.

The ceremony, attended by HPC Head Dr Siti Rosemawati Md Yussof, also saw the screening of two winning videos of the #YouthandVape short video competition, organised by the centre last year.

The videos will be used as marketing materials in the campaign. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
