YANGON: According to Thai sources, over 90 Myanmar nationals were apprehended in three locations within Thailand’s Kanchanaburi province. These individuals had illegally entered the border areas, prompting authorities to take action.
Acting on a tip-off, Thai authorities conducted searches for suspected vehicles. In the process, they discovered 30 Myanmar nationals hidden inside cars.
These individuals had entered Thailand illegally via waterways during the night and continued their journey in the morning, only to be arrested.
In a separate incident, 61 Myanmar nationals were arrested on April 26 after illegally entering Thailand by boats.
Thai authorities detected the boats around 3am and attempted to stop and check them using fire signals. Thirteen individuals were apprehended from an engine-failed boat.
Further investigations led Thai authorities to a forested area near a reservoir in Tha Khanon village. There, they found 35 men and 13 women, all of whom were Myanmar nationals lacking proper travel documents.
These individuals had paid 15,000 Thai baht per person to job brokers. Among the detainees was a one-year-old baby. - Eleven Media Group/ANN
