BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN/BANGKOK (The Nation Thailand/ANN): The King of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, will pay a two-day official visit to Thailand beginning on Sunday on the invitation of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, government spokesperson Chai Wacharonke has announced.

The Sultan will be accompanied by Prince Abdul Mateen, he added.

On April 29, the Sultan will have a royal audience with Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida, said Chai.

After that, he will meet Srettha for bilateral discussions at Government House and will witness the signing of two cooperation documents in investment and tourism promotion between various agencies of both countries.

Srettha will host an official luncheon in honour of the Sultan and the Brunei delegation, he added.

Thailand and Brunei Darussalam established diplomatic relations in 1984. The official visit by the Sultan will mark the celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Sultan had last visited Thailand 12 years ago.

Chai said the visit would help expand cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, halal industry, tourism, digital economy and people-to-people ties. Both sides also expected to discuss regional cooperation and exchange views on international issues. - The Nation Thailand/ANN
