Cambodian man arrested with 3.5kg of cocaine at Indian airport


PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): Indian media has reported that a Cambodian national has been arrested at an Indian airport whilst carrying 3.5kg of cocaine.

The Times of India states that Central Revenue Intelligence Department (CRID) officials on Thursday confiscated 3.5kg of cocaine brought from Cambodia via Malaysia.

Officials who arrested a Cambodian national and say they are interrogating him about the source of the drug and its intended recipient.

Sources said that he was arrested on an Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur.

A search of his belongings yielded a parcel containing 3.5 kg of cocaine.

The passenger was taken for interrogation during which investigators tried to ascertain the intended recipient and whether the detained man was part of any international drug cartel.

Thursday’s is the third major haul of cocaine at Chennai airport this year, raising fears that the airport appeared to have become a hub for smuggling of narcotics. - Khmer Times
