Brunei braces for thunder and storms as more wind and heavy rain expected in coming weeks

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The rainiy season is around the corner and The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) said the country wil be going through tough conditions and high risk of flash floods in coming weeks.

The heavy rain and thunder on Tuesday evening also saw branches falling on roads, especially in villages around the Brunei-Muara District. However, it also left some areas with a natural scenic ‘calm after the storm’ view.

The BDMD also forecast potential active weather condition from this week, with occasional heavy and thundery showers in the afternoon and at night, with wind gust potentially reaching up to 45 kilometres per hour.

There is also a high risk of flash floods, especially in low-lying areas, flood-prone areas and near river banks during continuous heavy rain and in high tide, as well as the risk of landslide and fallen trees, the department added. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
