BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Chin Yeong Jiann, 46, has donated blood over 30 times. The businessman running a workshop in Kuala Belait was among the donors at a blood donation drive organised by the Filipino community at Suri Seri Begawan (SSB) Hospital in Belait District recently.

Chin came to know about the event from a social media post and made his way to the blood donation drive with his spouse.

The campaign, joined by the local and Chinese community, was organised to answer the Health Ministry's call to replenish blood stock. Fifty-three pints of blood were collected at the event.

Filipina Noralyn Miranda Capanas working as a domestic helper in Seria has donated blood three times in the past six years. She said it is a joy to be able to donate blood and help those in need.

Meanwhile, first-time donor Joseph Maranon said he saw a social media post by the Bulletin about the need for blood at SSB Hospital.

The 44-year-old labourer said he also heard about the donation drive organised by the Filipino community and decided to do his part to help others, adding that he knew the health benefits for donors too. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
