BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Five locals were detained and their boat seized during a joint operation after they were found fishing in a restricted area on Monday (April 8).

The suspects were found fishing at the safety zone of an oil platform, according to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF). The boat operator and the passengers as well as the boat were brought back to the Marine Police.

If found guilty, the suspects are liable on conviction to a fine of up to BND100,000 or imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years, or both, said the RBPF. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
