China's Chery to set up URM3.8bil automobile factory in Vietnam

HANOI (Reuters): Vietnam's trade ministry has announced that automaker Chery had signed a joint venture agreement with a local company to set up an US$800 million (RM3.8 billion) plant, becoming the first Chinese electric vehicle maker to set up a facility in Vietnam.

The manufacturing plant, which will be jointly established by Chery's Omoda&Jaecoo unit and Vietnamese company Geleximco, will be in the costal province of Thai Binh, the ministry said in a statement following a signing ceremony.
