Most of Thailand to bake in the heat in April and hit above 40°C but heavy rain expected for the Southern part of country

BANGKOK (The Nation Thailand/ANN): With extreme heat forecast to affect several areas of the northern, northeastern, eastern and central regions, including Bangkok, from Monday, the meteorological department is warning against working or engaging in outdoor activities for an extended period.

Bangkok will face temperatures of 40°C while the North is likely to record 42°C and The Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) has issued a warning for intense heat across the country.

Southerly and southeasterly winds continue to prevail over the lower northeastern, central and eastern regions causing scattered thunderstorms in some areas.

Ten provinces in the South, meanwhile, will experience heavy rainfall, covering about 20% of the area. Wave height is expected to exceed 1 metre. - The Nation Thailand/ANN

Citizens are advised to take precautions due to the potentially hazardous weather conditions. Activities outdoors, especially prolonged exposure or laborious work, should be avoided.

In areas covered by south and southeasterly winds, such as the lower northeastern, lower central, and eastern regions, isolated thunderstorms are predicted. Residents in these regions were also advised to be vigilant of the dangers posed by such conditions. - The Nation Thailand/ANN
