BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Bornei Bulletin/ANN): The Labour Department recently conducted a special operation in Kampong Mabohai, where they discovered two violations under the Employment Order 2009.

The employer was found assigning a foreign worker to man the cashier instead of shop labourer, as stated in the foreign worker license.

The officers also found a foreign worker who was to be employed as a shop labour, working as a cashier instead.

If found guilty, the employer will face a compound fine of up to BND1,000.

The failure to settle the fine will result in the case being brought to court.

The Labour Department reminded employers to monitor the welfare of their employees in accordance with the Employment Order 2009 and to refrain from abusing the foreign worker licence. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
