MANILA: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has been invited to India for a state visit, said the Palace on Wednesday (March 27).

Marcos met with the Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Malacanang on Tuesday. During the meeting, Jaishankar said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi awaits Marcos in India.

“For his part, the Indian official said Prime Minister Modi looks forward to welcoming President Marcos in India for a state visit,” said the Presidential Communications Office in a statement.

The Palace said Marcos was receptive to the idea.

However, no other details about the prospective trip were shared, and Malacañang has yet to confirm whether or not the President will accept the invite.

In 2024 alone, Marcos has been to five countries so far: Brunei, Vietnam, Australia, Germany and the Czech Republic.

Marcos is also headed to Washington, D.C., for a trilateral meeting with the United States and Japan in April. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
