Brunei makes major alert call, health ministry says supplies at blood bank ‘critically low’

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Brunei Ministry of Health (MoH) has called on the public to donate blood as supplies at blood banks across the country are critically low.

There is an urgent need for all blood types to meet the demand for blood transfusions nationwide during the month of Ramadhan, the MoH said in a statement.

A blood donation campaign will be held tomorrow at Event Stage, Mabohai Shopping Complex, Kampong Mabohai from 8pm to 10pm while another will be held at The One in Batu Satu from 8pm to 10pm.

The blood bank of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in the Tutong District will hold a campaign on Saturday at its premises from 8pm to 10pm.

Donors are encouraged to book a slot using the BloodKad app prior to attending any of the events. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
