Central Bank updates alert list on suspicious financial bodies and websites


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) on Wednesday (March 20) released an updated BDCB Alert List comprising individuals, companies and websites neither authorised nor approved by the central bank or whose activities raise a suspicion of illegal financial activities.

The updated alert list now includes Brunei Investment Agency (Facebook (FB) profile) (misusing the name of Brunei Investment Agency); Easy Loan Brunei Darussalam; Elite FX New (Instagram (IG) profile); FSEX; Hsb_pro_bn (IG profile)/ HSB_TRADE_PRO with contact number 7266570; Loan Brunei (FB profile); Loan Syariah Brunei (FB profile)/Loan Syariah Online Brunei Trusted/Loan Syariah Online Brunei Darussalam/Personal Loan Online of Brunei Darussalam/Personal Loan Syariah (FB profile); Raibot Look Easy/Brunei Investment Company Limited; Reno Loan Bn (FB profile) with contact number 8253001; Smart Investor/ Smart Investor BN, Syarikat Using Loan with contact numbers 8783142, 7260142, 7261284 and 8947723; and Technical Center Trade and Urgen Loan Brunei (FB profile)/ Personal Fast Loan Syariah Brunei with contact number 7254098.

The BDCB reminded the public to deal only with licensed financial institutions and to avoid any unlicensed entities or individuals carrying out or offering financial services, especially those with characteristics of get-rich-quick or pyramid schemes.

Among the financial products and services that must be licensed by the BDCB include money changer, money remittance and money lending, it said in a statement.

The public is reminded they may not have the protection provided under the BDCB’s regulatory framework, should they choose to deal with entities, companies or individuals which are unlicensed or unregulated.
