Brunei seizes 550 cans of smuggled alcohol in special joint operation


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Brunei enforcement agencies has seized 550 cans of smuggled alcohol in a recent joint operation, according to Royal Brunei Police Force.

According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin on Sunday, the suspicious-looking boat carrying three individuals sped away after noticing the presence of the enforcement personnel, with several packages thrown into the water during the chase.

Enforcement personnel recovered discarded packages and found 550 cans of alcohol.

The joint operation involved Marine Police, Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) and Narcotics Control Bureau focusing on the waters of Brunei Bay. The contraband was handed over to the RCED. - XInhua
