One dead and six injured as fire rips through residential area in Philippine capital fire


MANILA (Xinhua): One person died and six others were injured after a fire ripped through a residential area here on Wednesday, authorities said.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire erupted in the morning and spread fast, burning several houses in Santa Mesa in Manila.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze two hours later, local authorities said. - Xinhua
