Three killed and seven injured in five-vehicle collision on Myanmar's highway


YANGON (Xinhua): Three people were killed and seven others were injured in a traffic accident involving five vehicles on Myanmar's highway on Saturday morning, an official from the Myanmar Rescue Organisation said.

The fatal accident took place at around 00:06am local time on Saturday near the milepost 158/5 on the Yangon-Mandalay highway, when three small vehicles were caught between two express vehicles.

"When the cars ahead applied their brakes to lower their speeds due to a traffic jam, an express vehicle behind them lost control and collided.

"This collision impacted three small vehicles caught between the two express cars," an official from the Myanmar Rescue Organization told Xinhua on Saturday.

The deceased included two males and one female, while the injured included an eight-year-old child, he said, adding that the victims were sent to Taungoo General Hospital. All the victims are from the three small vehicles, he added. - Xinhua
