Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery exports surge 80% in January

HANOI: Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery exports in January saw a significant increase of 80 per cent to US$5.14 billion year-on-year, Vietnam News reported on Monday (Feb 5), citing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In this month, the export revenue for forestry products reached 1.49 billion dollars, up 73 per cent; seafood 730 million dollars, up 61 per cent; and farm produce 2.71 billion dollars, up 94 per cent, according to the report.

China was the largest consumer of Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery products, accounting for 23 per cent of the total or marking a yearly rise of 106 pe rcent, said the ministry.

In 2023, Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery exports posted more than $53.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.3 per cent, according to the ministry. - Xinhua
