Cambodia and Georgia sign MoU on political consultation


PHNOM PENH (Xinhua): Cambodia and Georgia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the establishment of a political consultation mechanism in order to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation, a Cambodian foreign ministry's press release said on Saturday.

The deal was inked via video link by Cambodian Foreign Ministry's Secretary of State Chem Widhya and Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili on Friday.

The MoU would pave the way for the two countries to further promote bilateral relations and cooperation, the news release said.

"The two senior officials also exchanged views on developments in their respective countries, while reaffirming their commitments to the rule of law in international affairs," it said.

Cambodia and Georgia forged diplomatic relations in 1994.- Xinhua
