Three killed in Danang after sleeper bus plunges off cliff

HANOI: Three people died and many others were injured on early Tuesday (Jan 23) morning after a sleeper bus plunged off a cliff in a highway section running through Vietnam's central Danang city, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The sleeper bus with 19 passengers and three drivers and driver's assistants on board was running on the Dak Lak-Thua Thien Hue route when the accident occurred.

While heading towards the south-north direction, it crashed into the road barrier on the opposite side and slid off the cliff.

The accident happened at night when it was cold and raining heavily.

According to local police, the bus was seriously damaged. Three people died on the spot while three others were severely injured.

Other injured victims were rushed to local healthcare facilities.

The location where the accident occurred was on an uphill curve. The road has two lanes with no median and is located outside the densely populated area, local media reported.
